Sometimes you meet a person, and you just click. You're comfortable with them, like you've known them your whole life, and you don't have to pretend to be anyone or anything.

I didn't set out to build an app. I just looked up one day and realized how much I missed having real, same-age women in my life. Not acquaintances. Not people I messaged occasionally. I mean real friends. The kind you make soup for when they're sick. The kind who come over just to sit and not talk.

So I thought, there has to be an app for that. I signed up for everything I could find. What I discovered was frustrating. Some were clearly dating apps trying to do friendship. Others felt like they were built for twenty-somethings. Nothing felt like it was made for women my age.

But in my search, I stumbled across research that changed everything.

Harvard had followed thousands of people for 80 years to answer one question: What makes for a healthy, happy life?

The answer wasn't diet. It wasn't exercise. It wasn't good genes. It was relationships.

I kept reading. Strong friendships don't just make us happier, they make us healthier. They protect our hearts, sharpen our minds, help us live longer. More than a third of women over 50 feel regularly disconnected from meaningful relationships. And the health consequences are real.

I started talking to other women about this. They felt the same way. They told me about friendships that had shifted or disappeared. Lives that had changed. Kids grown and gone. It wasn't loneliness, exactly. It was recognition that something essential had gone missing.

Something that wasn't just nice to have, but critical for healthy aging.

So I decided to build what I couldn't find. A simple, thoughtful way for women my age to find new, real friendships. Because I realized this wasn't just about missing connection, it was about reclaiming one of the most powerful tools we have for aging well.

Here is what we’re building

1

You can tell us about your interests and what you enjoy these days. Answer questions like "What does a perfect Saturday look like now?" The kind of sharing that leads to meaningful conversation, not a performance.

Meaningful Conversation Starters

2

We help you meet women who are in a similar stage of life and share what matters most to you. It’s not about swiping or surface details. It’s about creating a foundation for friendships that feel natural, supportive, and lasting.

Thoughtful Matching

3

This isn’t a dating app in disguise. From the start, every choice has been made with one purpose: to make it easier for women over 50 to find new friends. The design is simple. The experience is low pressure. The intent is clear: friendship, and only friendship.

Built For Friendship

The app is just the beginning. The rest happens in real life: over coffee, on walks, in conversation. Friendship takes root in these everyday moments, and our goal is to make them easier to find.

Everyday Connections

Why We Call It Kaffeeklatsch

Kaffeeklatsch isn't just a word, it's a feeling.

I was born and raised in Germany, where Kaffeeklatsch is part of everyday life. It means an informal gathering over coffee, where the conversation is unhurried and the company feels like comfort. The kind of time together that can be as restorative as it is joyful and where laughter, stories, and care are all part of the same cup.

The tradition traveled. In mid-20th-century America, "coffee klatch" was part of everyday life for many women, as a way to stay connected, swap news, and feel part of something bigger. And in other cultures, it takes different shapes: a cuppa in Britain, cafecito in Latin America, tea and stories in the Middle East. The drinks change. The feeling doesn't.

That's why the app is called Kaffeeklatsch. It's not about coffee. It's about the company, the conversation, and the reminder that friendship still has a place.
